I don't have many positive things to say about this week. I also have been slacking on my regular blogging duties because I've been neck deep in studying for my nurse practitioner boards. You'll forgive me, won't you?
I ran twice this week. Twice. I learned that I NEED to get up and run before work or it just isn't going to happen. I chose to sleep an extra half hour instead of getting up on Tuesday morning, but then I never went running.
On Thursday morning I went out for my 1/2 mile repeats at 7am because it was supposed to be hot and I had things to do. It was miserable and I was slow. Which, again, means that I technically nailed the workout because it was effort based instead of pace based. It was hard and sweaty.
My long run on Sunday was supposed to be 10 miles, but I only made it 8. I had a ridiculously hard time getting out the door and never really felt any better. After about 4 miles I decided that I didn't really feel like sucking it up and powering through not feeling like running, so I turned around and went home. And then slept for the rest of the afternoon.
So yeah, hopefully next week is better.
My meals this past week were unremarkable. I've decided that I'm staring a Whole30 this week. I'm feeling tired, my skin is angry, and I have all kinds of new aches and pains. I feel like that's exactly what a Whole30 is meant to help with.
It's not drastically different from the way I usually eat, with the exception of the recent addition of some gluten-free grains and cheese making their way onto my plate. Most of my meals over the last few days have been mostly Whole30, but we had some things that needed to be eaten and I needed to do some prep, so the last few days have been transition type days.
I had some scrambled eggs and sweet potato before my long run (and then chicken sausage and sweet potato afterwards). Sunday's lunch was some potato, more chicken sausage, and spinach. Then dinner was cashew beef stir fry...which I'll be posting the recipe for on Tuesday!
