Uh, sorry I've been MIA guys. I got lost in the giant hole of studying for my Nurse Practitioner certification exam (spoiler alert: I passed!). Anyway, since it's Thursday, I thought I would share a bit of an update on what's been going on the last few weeks.
1. Most importantly, I have a new family member. Meet Griffin...
He's been with us for just about two weeks now and is doing great. He's adorable and pretty well behaved for a 10 week old puppy. Give him a couple of bones to chew on and he's set. Right now he's eating his lunch in his collapsible kennel in preparation for a weekend adventure. He's a pretty adaptable guy, which is a nice change from my neurotic Aussie (who I still love very much despite what she might tell you).
He's almost mastered the "sit" command and is getting better about walking on a leash. I think he's a pretty smart guy!
2. I'm now a Family Nurse Practitioner! As I alluded to in the beginning of this post, I passed my FNP boards. I have devoted most of my waking hours for the past few weeks to studying for them and I am so relieved to be done with that hurdle! I'm waiting on a few job offers and then I'll be able to start working in my new career. It's exciting and overwhelming. But mostly I'm just happy to be done with tests for awhile!
3. Half marathon training is not going as well as I had hoped. I'll talk more about it when I do my weekly training update, but basically I feel like crap when I run. No idea what's going on, but I'm going to try incorporating a bit more cross training into my week to see if that helps since I was feeling so great at the end of triathlon training this spring.
4. I usually like to stick around for holiday weekends because everyone leaves town and I hate dealing with traffic on the highway. However this weekend I was invited to a friend's cabin...and since my freezer is devoid of fish...it's time to suck it up and join the masses for a weekend exodus.
