The internet is full of beautiful pictures of spring all across the country. While most others are enjoying green grass, sunny skies, and the beginnings of blooming flowers, Anchorage (and most of the rest of Alaska) is still buried under several feet of snow.
The weather is warm and the snow is melting, but it is not pretty.
Spring in Alaska has never been my favorite season. It's sloppy, dusty, and smells like rotting things. All of a sudden, the snow will be gone and things will start turning green and it will be lovely. But until then it's quite ugly.
