I've written about my favorite blanket that my mom made probably over 30 years ago (you can read about it here). Well, it's starting to fall apart. It's been repaired several times, but the fabric is starting to just disintegrate. It makes me sad. I have no intention of ever getting rid of it (I usually don't have intentions to get rid of much...thanks dad), but I want to preserve it. So, I had the idea that I would make a cover for it. My plan is to make it like a duvet and just stitch the top corners of the old quilt into the duvet. Here's the plan: I, like any good crafter/quilter, have a rather large stash of various bits of fabric. Not enough of any one fabric to make a whole project, but together they can do great things. Especially since I apparently have very distinct tastes in fabric. These scraps are from at least 4 (possibly 5) different projects...and yet they all go together... So far it's going pretty fast. I did mostly 4" squares with a few 8" squares thrown in. I'll post pictures of my progress when I get a bit more done!
