four years

Four years ago today, John and I started dating. In the big scheme of things, that's not a very long time. In my timeline, there are very few things that I can think of that I have maintained for four or more years. I went to high school for four years, I went to college for 3.75 years, I went to nursing school for two years, I've been at my job for almost 2.5 years. The good news is, all the things in my life that have lasted for more than four years have lasted for way more than four years - i.e. my best friends who I have known for almost fifteen years...yeah, that's more than half my lifetime.I'm so thankful that I found someone who puts up with my crap, eats (and likes) everything I've ever cooked him, washes the dishes, makes me laugh so hard I cry, gives me crap back, makes me smile, puts up with my family (no offense guys, but you know you can be hard to handle sometimes, especially for an "outsider"...), puts up with my dog, indulges my inner geek, is smart, has enough similar interests that we can do things together but also have things we can do separately, likes my friends, has his own awesome friends that I like, has a job (with good travel benefits), owns a house, and is a good person. Here's to the next four years and hoping that they keep getting better!
