I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm not a huge fan of Christmas (perhaps it's genetic...my Jewish genes do have pretty strong opinions about things). I love giving people gifts, but I pretty much dislike everything else about the holiday season. My most unfavorite part? The music. I'm not sure how, when, or why I developed such an aversion to Christmas music, but I pretty much can't stand it.There is, however, one exception. I love the song "Last Christmas" by Wham! I don't know why...I don't identify with it in any way and I'm pretty sure that I never heard it as a kid, but somewhere along the way I adopted it as the only Christmas song I will willingly listen to. Maybe it appeals to my pessimistic side. I'm not really sure. But while everyone else is jingling bells, decking the halls, and silencing the night, I'll be changing the radio station or sympathizing with George Michael about his broken heart.
